Exclude your own visits

1 min read

In Cronitor RUM, you have two options to exclude your own page views from being tracked in website analytics:

  • Disable the tracker on a particular device and browser.
  • Or block your IP address or office network. Disables tracking on all devices and browsers that use this IP address.

We’ll explore both options below.

Disable the tracker on your browser

You can use a query parameter to disable tracking on a particular device and browser.

  1. Open your website in a browser and add ?cronitor_rum_disable to the end of the URL. For example: https://example.com/?cronitor_rum_disable.
  2. Refresh the page with this URL query parameter.

That’s all - your own visits will no longer be tracked for this site in Cronitor RUM.

Block your IP address

If you have a static IP address, you can block it from being tracked in your Cronitor RUM dashboard. This applies to all devices and browsers that use the IP address or network range provided.

  1. Go to your Cronitor RUM dashboard.
  2. Click on the site you want to exclude your own visits from.
  3. Click on the Settings tab.
  4. Under Inbound Filters, click on Advanced Settings.
  5. Under Blocked IPs, add your IP address or network range.
  6. Click Save.

Your own visits will no longer be tracked for this site in Cronitor RUM.
